Maxwell Moldovan Makes Cut in Boys Junior PGA National Championship

After a fog-delayed start to the continuation of the 2nd round of the 43rd Boys Junior PGA Championship–which stretched to Wednesday morning due to 1.75″ of rain Tuesday- Maxwell Moldovan made the cut by shooting a score of 72-75-147 to make the cut by two strokes. A cut has been made to the Top 70 players plus ties from the field of 144. Third round play is scheduled to begin today at 1 p.m. EDT on double tees. The final round will be conducted Friday.

Following the conclusion of play, the champion will receive the Jack Nicklaus Trophy. In addition, the 2018 United States Junior Ryder Cup Team will be announced by PGA Past President and U.S. Team Captain Allen Wronowski, PGA.

Great playing by the other NOPGA Junior Tour representatives – Cade Breitenstine, Andrew Kay, and Jacob Tarkany are representing the Northern Ohio PGA this week during the Boys Junior PGA National Championship at Valhalla Golf Club July 31st-August 3rd.

One of golf’s major championships for juniors, the Boys Junior PGA Championship is where the best in the world get their start including: Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jordan Spieth, 2017 PGA Champion and Louisville native Justin Thomas, 2018 U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Jim Furyk, Stewart Cink, Trevor Immelman, Justin Leonard, David Toms and Scott Verplank.

At the end of the event, five boys will join 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur Champion Michael Thorbjornsen; 2018 Girls Junior PGA Champion Yeliani Noh; 2017 Girls PGA Champion Rose Zhang; 2016 Girls Junior PGA Champion Lucy Li; Rachel Heck; Erica Shepherd; and Alexa Pano on the 12-player, co-ed 2018 United States Junior Ryder Cup Team in Paris in September.
