Ken Keller Wins the 2017 Northern Ohio Section Boys Junior PGA Championship
Ken Keller of Youngstown, Ohio won the 2017 Northern Ohio PGA Boys Junior PGA Championship on Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 at Shady Hollow Country Club in Massillon, Ohio.
Ken Keller will have the opportunity to join 144 of the nation’s top male junior golfers in the PGA of America’s premium junior event, the 42nd Boys Junior PGA Championship, hosted at The Country Club of St. Albans in St. Albans, Missouri. The Country Club of St. Albans has consistently been ranked in the Top 10 courses in the state of Missouri by Golf Digest and looks to be a fantastic venue for the event. The Boys Junior PGA Championship will be held from July 31- August 3, 2017.
Ken Keller, 18, shot a total of 139 for the Championship and edged out Brian Terlesky and Miles DeMuesy.This year’s Championship will have twice the field size of previous years. This means each of the 41 PGA of America Sections has the opportunity to send 2 players to Missouri. Therefore, along with Ken Keller, Brian Terlesky of Youngstown, Ohio will also be competing at the Country Club of St. Albans. Brian Terlesky earned his spot through finishing as a Runner-Up and winning the playoff with Miles Demuesy.
The Boys Junior PGA Championship is where some of the best in the world get their start. Many of today’s PGA Tour professionals made their debut at the Championship. Notable past participants Include: Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, Stewart Cink and Phil Mickelson.
