Danielle Nicholson Is New PGA Works Fellow

The Northern Ohio PGA is excited to welcome Danielle Nicholson to our Staff as the NOPGA Works Fellow from August 1, 2020 to April 1, 2021. PGA WORKS is a strategic initiative, designed to diversify the golf industry’s workforce. Funded by PGA REACH, the 501(c)(3) charitable foundation of the PGA of America, PGA WORKS leverages fellowships, scholarships, career exploration events, and the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship to inspire and engage talent from diverse backgrounds to pursue key employment positions across the golf industry. The Northern Ohio & Southern Ohio PGA Works Fellowships are funded by Barbara & Jack Nicklaus.
Danielle is from Geneva, Ohio. The Section played an important role in her junior golf career. She played in her first tournament at age 8; an NOPGA Pups Tour event at Shawnee Hills where she shot a 44 to win the event. Danielle fell in love with the game and went to the golf course every day after that with her dad, who worked in the pro shop of Hemlock Springs Golf Course.
Danielle went on to win many junior golf tournaments including a 2011 Junior PGA Sectional Championship where she advanced to the Junior PGA Championship. In addition, she won a Division I State Championship her freshman year of high school and went on to qualify for four USGA Championships including a US Women’s Amateur, two Public Links Championships, and a Four Ball Championship.
Danielle earned her undergraduate degree in Education (Biology/Chemistry) at the University of Akron where she played on the golf team for four years. She won six individual titles while there including a Mid-American Conference Championship her freshman year of college. She was also named Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year and was named to the All-MAC Team four consecutive years. Danielle also claimed the 2018 Ohio State Women’s Amateur Championship.
She is currently attending graduate school at the University of Akron working towards an MBA in Finance. Danielle is excited to have the opportunity to work with the same people that made her junior golf career so memorable.
Please join me in welcoming Danielle to the Section at your next event!
