Haefner & Stone Win at 94th Habitec Toledo Open
Grant Haefner (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan) came back from a three stroke deficit to win the 94th Habitec Toledo Open by two strokes after firing a final round 65 (-6) to follow up his first round 66 (-5). Haefner made 8 birdies on his way to his third professional win. Patrick Deardorff (Clarkston, Michigan) who shot an opening round 63 (-8) fired 70 (-1) to take solo second place.

Notable finishes from Northern Ohio PGA section members and associates include Michael Balcar (Brandywine Country Club) who shot 71-69 (-2); Blake Sattler (Willie’s Custom Golf Center) who shot 73-69 (E); DJ Holub (Pepper Pike Club) who shot 69-73 (E); Jim Troy (The Golf Dome) who shot 74-68 (E). Low amateur honors in the regular division went to Jerred Barley (Tipton, Michigan) who fired 74-71 (+3).
Mike Stone, the Director of Instruction at Belmont Country Club, once again claimed the title of Toledo Open Senior Champion. Stone carded rounds of 73 and 69 for a two-day total of 142 (even par), securing his repeat victory at the prestigious tournament.
Close behind Stone was Paul Wackerly, a golf professional from Minerva, Ohio, who finished in second place with a score of 73-70-143 (+1).
The low senior amateur honors went to Matthew Akers of Lima, Ohio, and Joe Podolski of Worthington, Ohio, who both shot 76-76-152 (+10) and 75-77-152 (+10), respectively.
“I guess to sum it up it’s just always something I mark on my calendar. The Toledo Open is one of the bigger events being from Toledo,” said Stone. It’s a privilege to have done well in the past. The golf course was fantastic. Great set up by the Northern Ohio PGA and a very well run tournament.”
