Nick Latimer-Zabor Wins Northern Ohio PGA Assistants Championship In Play-Off

Nick Latimer-Zabor shot eight birdies in his last nine holes to force a playoff with Ben Cook during the National Car Rental Northern Ohio PGA Assistant PGA Professional Championship at Westbrook Country Club on September 18, 2017. After both shot a 65 (-7) in the second round to end up in a tie, Latimer-Zabor birdied the second playoff hole to win. Latimer-Zabor, Pepper Pike Club, and Ben Cook, Beechmont Country Club shot identical round scores of 72 65 137 (-7). Not far behind was third place finisher, Jon Mills, Kent State University Golf Course, who finished only two strokes behind the leaders.

By winning, Latimer-Zabor qualified for the 41st National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, November 9-12, at PGA Golf Club (Wanamaker Course) in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The facility will be hosting its twenty-first consecutive Assistant PGA Professional Championship. Joining him are Cook and Mike Stone, Belmont Country Club.

The 132-man field for this year’s 41st edition of the Assistant PGA Professional Championship consists of the top 4 finishers from last year’s championship, if eligible and assistants based on the average number of players in the last 5 years (using actual number of eligible players starting each Section’s Championship).

The winner of the 41st National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship earns $12,000 out of a total purse of $150,000. The top-70 finishers and ties after the second round will make the cut.
