Northern Ohio PGA Section Announces Emily Koehler as New PGA Works Fellow!

The Northern Ohio PGA is excited to welcome Emily Koehler to our Staff as the new NOPGA Works Fellow. PGA WORKS is a strategic initiative, designed to diversify the golf industry’s workforce. Funded by PGA REACH, the 501(c)(3) charitable foundation of the PGA of America, PGA WORKS leverages fellowships, scholarships, career exploration events, and the PGA WORKS Collegiate Championship to inspire and engage talent from diverse backgrounds to pursue key employment positions across the golf industry. The Northern Ohio & Southern Ohio PGA Works Fellowships are funded by Barbara & Jack Nicklaus.

Emily is originally from Vienna, Ohio and has had a love for the game of golf her entire life. Since she was two years-old, Emily has been swinging a golf club and playing every day with her dad at her family’s golf course, Vienna Short Holes and Driving Range. She played in her first junior event at the age of 10, took first place, and never stopped competing after that. As a youngster, she competed in several junior golf events around Ohio, as well as, many NOPGA events where she took first place in many of them. Emily also competed in the NOPGA Collegiate Series for 4 years and was Player of the Year in 2020.

In high school, Emily became the first female from Mathews High School to qualify for the OHSAA Division II District Championship four years in a row. Following high school, Emily attended Tiffin University where she competed on the Women’s Golf team for 4 years. During her time there, she earned All-GMAC Team honors for two years, was a WGCA All-American Scholar all four years, and she received the Elite 23 Award her senior year for achieving the highest GPA in GMAC Women’s Golf for the 2020-2021 season. Emily was also the Marathon Student Athlete of the Month twice in a row for Tiffin University and she currently holds the record for most rounds of par or better at Tiffin University with four rounds.

Emily graduated with honors with a BBA in Sports Management with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Chemistry, and received the Excellence in Field of Study award for Sports Management.

After interning with our section for two years, Emily is very excited to be back with us and working with the same people that made huge impacts on her golf career!

Please join me in welcoming Emily to the Section at your next event!
