WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS: Long-time Pepper Pike Club head professional Rob Moss, one of the most decorated players in the Northern Ohio Section of the Professional Golfers Association, will become the 82nd member of the organization’s Hall-of-Fame next month.
Moss, who has won 14 of the NOPGA major championships during a storied 33-year career, will be inducted during ceremonies on December 8th at the Blair Center adjacent to Westfield Country Club during the Section’s annual Awards Banquet and winter meeting.
Moss, 56, turned professional in 1991 after graduating from Kent State University with a business degree. He played on the Asian and South American Tours from 1994 through 1998 and the Nike Tour (now the Korn Ferry Tour) during the 1996 and 2000 seasons.
He joined the NOPGA prior to the 2001 season after accepting a job as the assistant professional at Lakewood Country Club. Four years later he became the head professional at Elyria Country Club before moving to Pepper Pike in 2009.
Moss, a graduate of Padua High School, has won just about every significant event during his NOPGA career. He is a three-time winner of the Ohio Open, a five-time winner of the NOPGA Section Championship, a two-time winner of the Mitchell-Haskell Tour Championship and a three- time winner of the Denny Shute Match Play Championship. He has represented the NOPGA 19 times in the Ohio Cup Matches with the Southern Ohio PGA.
He was named as the Section’s Player-of-the-Year five times and twice was awarded the Bill Strausbaugh Award, emblematic of the PGA Professional who has shown outstanding integrity and commitment to mentoring his fellow professionals. Prior to becoming a professional he won the Ohio Amateur at Moraine Country Club in 1989.
